David Kee earned a DBA from Grenoble Ecole de Management in 2016. His subject was ascetic entrepreneurship, and he produced a paper-based thesis, with four papers submitted to peer-reviewed journals. Two were published, and two additional are en route to publication. Kee is an assistant professor of management at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, USA, and is concentrating on entrepreneurship and economics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior, Kee owned an import/export food business in Atlanta, Georgia, for 20 years.
Based on Max Weber’s Protestant Work Ethic, this thesis aims to advance the theoretical construct of ascetic entrepreneurship and its influence on successful entrepreneurship from the societal to the firm and to the individual levels. This cross-disciplinary historical approach links asceticism and entrepreneurship and tests it with an elite prosopography as methodology to further verify these propositions.
